Chemo Round #1 Update

Chemo seems like such a double edged sword - don't you think? On one hand, it is killing the cancer in my body which is AMAZING, but on the other hand it is making me sicker than a dog. Actually, to be fair, I think I am handling the chemo side effects fairly well. Or as well as I can be.

Here is how I've been feeling:

3/19/21 (Day of chemo) - hardly any side effects besides having a hard time regulating my body temperature. After I got home from chemo I kept going from hot flashes to extreme chills. That has been pretty steady everyday since.

3/20/21 (1 day post chemo) - Regulating my body temp is still difficult. I practically live in a robe, but have to take it off every few minutes or else I'll start sweating through it. Oh, what fun. The only other symptom that showed up on this day was that my mouth was really dry. I knew to expect that so I am trying to stay as hydrated as possible.

Due to some insurance issues, I have to go in to the hospital 5 days straight after chemo to get a shot that helps boost my white blood cell count. The shot is super easy, but it sure does come with it's own set of side effects. Body-aches out the wah-zoo. Specifically leg pain. Severe leg pain.

3/21 - 3/22/21 (Days 2-3 post chemo)  - LEG PAIN AND ACID REFLUX. Warm baths and Pepcid AC have been my best friends these past few days. I am still learning what remedies are going to help my side effects the most so we are still in a little bit of trial and error phase.

3/23/21 (Today - Day 4 post chemo) - I have slept the vast majority of the day. And slept some more. And did a little more sleeping. My stomach has been in knots today, but nothing I can't manage, I'm sure.

Thank you all for the love, support, and encouragement. I am going to take the rest of the evening off to enjoy some much needed cuddles with my doggos.

Fiercely,

- Jesse

P.s. I cut off 8 1/2 inches of hair this weekend! Just trying to prepare for this whole new bald look I am going to have here soon.
