Health Update + What’s Next with Treatment

Hi Friends! I know it’s been a minute since I have given a decent update on how my treatment is going so I thought I’d write up a quick overview of where we are at with treatment and what my next steps look like.

So, as many of you know, I had my double mastectomy on August 12, and I would say that it went over with flying colors… besides one minor complication where some tissue near my incision was dying so we had to take care of that. But other than that minor hiccup, I have been doing so great after my mastectomy! Or at least I am doing 100x better than I thought I would be doing, so I will take that as a win.

After my mastectomy, we received some pretty amazing news… the pathology report came back and there was no residual malignancy (no cancer cells) found in my breast tissue. YAY! That is so so so exciting for us. My doctors and I are all super pleased with how well my chemo regimen seemed to work!

However, we are not quite out of the woods yet. We met with the radiologist this week and got confirmation that we will still want to move forward with a good amount of radiation so that way we can zap any potential remaining cancer cells! We are planning on 30 rounds of radiation. 5 days a week for 6 weeks. I am definitely not looking forward to that, but it is a necessary evil I suppose. We don’t have a set date for when I will begin radiation, but it will likely be within the next month. I’ll keep you all posted!

As always, thank you for on the continued support as I kick cancers butt!
